The Allens
Shortly after gearing up with professional-grade camera equipment, I started photographing The Allens. Little did I know, they would become a recurring view and a truly significant part of my life.
It is a struggle to believe that it has been almost 9 years since the time that I first met/photographed Summer and Blake. There are occasions in which it feels like 18 years have gone by, and some others in which I feel as if it had been yesterday. Through the years they have trusted me to be their engagement, wedding, maternity, birth, newborn, family, real estate, and portrait, photographer.
I have dedicated 9 years to exploring many different areas of my trade. I have had the privilege of being instructed and guided by remarkable artists who have shaped me. It has been a great journey.
There are some ways in which The Allens have been a very important part of my growth. If you happen to know Blake, you would know that he has a vision for everything… always. It has been a great exercise to work towards fulfilling those visions; and lately, for him to trust me to just provide my own.
Other than the ultrasounds I was the first person to ever take a photo of their son. I am convinced that he probably thinks that the camera is grafted to my arm. I do not think that I have ever been around him without one. Last weekend was Opening Day of their son’s baseball season. When I was working on the photographs of that day I realized how much he has grown, and how I have changed as a photographer. Most importantly, it was an eye-opener as to how much I enjoy documenting a family.
